Summary

This region represents the promoter of the alcohol dehydrogenase 1A (class I), alpha polypeptide (ADH1A) gene, also known as ADH1. This promoter is regulated by binding by CCAAT/enhancer binding protein to sites conserved in members of this gene family. Activity of this region is also induced by bile acids through binding by nuclear receptor subfamily 1 group H member 4 (Nr1h4/Fxr). This promoter is negatively regulated by cytosine methylation.
